Inner Words

Inner Words opened just as the Covid-19 lockdown began, we have decided to continue with the show and for now say, welcome back, we have missed you.

Our mixed group show, now titled, ‘Inner Words’ ( the return ), looks at the interrelated practices of poetry and painting. Both tap into the creator’s imagination as well as requiring deep observation of the world around you. Newly represented artists Mary Mabbutt, Sharon Beavan and Ian Norris seek to depict feelings and fleeting moments, transforming them into permanent objects; and Susan McFarlane’s painting ‘Buttercup and Kingcup, Bright as Brass’ directly references Edward Thomas’ poem ‘Sedge-Warbler’, taking its inspiration from the written word as well as the physical subject matter.

The exhibition will also include established gallery artists Sarah Spackman RBA, Mark Dunford LG, Daniel Preece LG, June Collier, James Bland, David Wiseman LG, Sara Lee Roberts, Nicole Price, Jason Bowyer PP NEAC, John Brenton and Kay Vinson who respond uniquely to the poetics of light, composition and subject in new works.
